The protest launched by estate workers demanding authorities to increase their daily wage upto 1000 rupees, continues today for the 12th day.
However, minister of Labor W.D.J. Seneviratne stated in a media conference today that the estate labor’s demands cannot be met.
Workers in several estates launched a protest on September 24, demanding a daily wage of 1000 rupees.
Meanwhile, protests caused traffic congestion along the Colombo Ratnapura road in Eheliyagoda this morning.
The Estate worker wage crisis was discussed in parliament yesterday.
