The Indian Union Power Ministry is considering laying a sub-sea power cable to transmit power from India to Sri Lanka.

It has been determined that Sri Lanka requires 500 Mega Watts of power from India to meet its domestic power requirements.

But in the absence of transmission connectivity between the two countries, no decision has been taken as of yet.

The ministry of Power is now considering sub-sea power cable technology.

Union Power Secretary PK Pujari said India is currently supplying power to Bangladesh, Nepal and Myanmar and importing power from Bhutan.
