Thundershowers predicted until end of November; Highway motorists asked to drive with caution

The Meteorology Department states that thunderstorms could be expected to last until the end of November due to the Inter Tropic Convergent Zone developing around the island.

Duty Meteorologist Darshana Premathilake informed the general public to take caution as lightning could hit along with thunder showers.

Meanwhile, the Road Development Authority today advised motorists using expressways to switch on headlights when travelling in the heavy rain.

Expressway Operation Maintenance and Management Director S. Opanayaka advised motorists to travel at a controlled speed to avoid accidents.
