Reports indicated that there will be a delay in presenting the COPE committee report over the Treasury bonds issue, due to a concern regarding its translation.

Chairman of Cope Committee JVP MP Sunil Handunnetti noted that the committee will convene on Monday.

He further noted that there is a difficulty in presenting the report on 25th Tuesday in parliament, along with its translated copies in English and Tamil.

However, Chairman of the COPE committee also stated that the relevant report will be tabled during the next parliamentary week.

The investigation conducted by the COPE committee into the Treasury Bonds issue extended for a period of 16 months, where the final draft was subjected to several rounds of lengthy discussions during the last few days.

MP Sunil Handunnetti further noted that, as the Chairman of the COPE Committee, he has completed the preparation of the relevant report.

However, certain members out of the 26 MP’s representing the COPE Committee, have already accepted the report, while several others have concluded that an alternative report with amendments should be submitted.
