Update: 4 killed and 3 injured in Mattakkuliya shooting

Four people were killed and three wounded in the shooting that took place at Summithpura in Mattakkuliya yesterday. The injured were admitted to the Colombo National Hospital.

Its Director Dr. Anil Jasinghe said that two of the injured were in serious condition.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the shooting was handed over to CID, Colombo.

The shooting took place during a clash that surfaced between two underworld gangs at Summitpura in Mattakkuliya.

Police said that the clash had taken place between heroin traffickers.

Police also said that it had been determined that a gang headed by ‘Kudu Roshan’ had carried out the shooting.

While the shooting had taken place in front of Kudu Roshan’s house belonging to the Mattakkuliya Summitpura Housing Complex Flats, reports also state that the gang involved in the shooting has fled the area.

The police said that four persons including the underworld member Chooti Ukkuva and his closest colleague were killed in the shooting.

It has been revealed that the individuals involved were between 24 and 29 years of age.

Four T 56 ammunition caps and two 9-milimetre Browning Pistol ammunition caps were recovered from the site of the shooting.
