The funeral of one of the Jaffna university students who died at Kokkuvil - Sudandira Raja Sulakshana - was held at Uduwil in Jaffna today.  

The final rites of the other university student who died at Kokkuvil - Nadarajah Ganeshan was held yesterday at his home town in Iranamadu, Kilinochchi.

Meanwhile, Jaffna university students staged a protest demonstration against the Police, in connection with death of the two university students.

Several shops were closed today in solidarity with the protesters.  

Previously, the incident was reported as the two students had died in a motor accident on October 21st.  

However, a gun bullet was found in the body of one of the students during the post mortem.  

Later five policemen were arrested in connection with the incident and they were remanded until November 4th.

The protest demonstration disrupted the traffic along A9 road.

Jaffna University students handed over a petition to Jaffna District Secretary L. Vedanayagam.  

The petition demanded that the suspects of the incident should be sued in High Court within one month.

Meanwhile, students of Ruhuna, Kelaniya, Peradeniya and Rajarata universities also staged protests with regard to the incident.
