Tense situation flares in Parliament after presentation of COPE Committee report

A tense situation occurred in the House today, after the COPE Committee report on the Treasury Bonds issue was tabled in parliament.

The situation flared up when Leader of the House Minister Lakshman Kiriella interrupted COPE Committee Chairman MP Sunil Handunnetti, while he was expressing views over the report.

Subsequently, several MPs including the Chief Opposition Whip Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Minister Rauf Hakeem, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, and MP Dinesh Gunawardena also intervened and expressed their views.
