Former ambassador to the US Jaliya Wickramasuriya further remanded

Former Ambassador to the US Jaliya Wickramasuriya who was in remand for allegedly abusing state funds has been further remanded today until January 13th.

Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayarathna ordered to further remand Wickramasuriya when the Case against him was taken for hearing this morning.

Wickramasuriya was arrested on November 18th for alleged misuse of approximately 51.7 rupees state funds to acquire a building for the use of the Sri Lankan mission in the United States.

The former ambassador was not produced before Courts today.

Prison officers informed Courts that the suspect is receiving treatment at prison hospital.
