Disciplinary action to be taken against doctors requesting patients to purchase stents from third parties

The Minister of Health has decided to take disciplinary action against doctors who are requesting patients purchase contact lenses and stents from a third party.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Health stated that the subject minister has banned such a requirement

The Ministry of Health has received complaints that cardiac patients from hospitals in Colombo and Kandy had been asked to make such purchases.

Initial Investigations have revealed that doctors along with several private companies are engaging in this practice.
