The public has been requested to use tap water in order to fulfill essential needs.

The Chairman of the Board, K.A Ansar noted that if dry conditions continue, a water crisis might be experienced in the next 3 months.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya says that measures have been taken to provide electricity without cutting down on the supply despite the prevailing dry conditions.

The statement was made during the ceremony initiating the use of solar power to provide electricity to the Sri Maha Bodhi and the temple premises.
