The water levels of many reservoirs reduced to 25 percent

Secretary of the Irrigation Ministry, R M W Ratnayake states that due to the prevailing dry weather condition, water levels in main reservoirs have reduced drastically.

He further stated that water levels in main reservoirs have reduced to 25 percent.

The Centre for Disaster Management says that over six hundred thousand people in 13 districts have been affected by the drought conditions.

The assistant director of the Centre, Pradeep Koddippilli stated those who have been most affected are from the Jaffna district.
