Prime Minister meets with Chinese President

Chairman of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Jin Liqun says that he and the company are committed to extend its support towards Sri Lanka. 

The statement was made during a meeting that took place with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at the World Economic Summit in Switzerland. 

Liqun added that he will take action to provide necessary aid and loans for the development of roads, railway services, ports and urban development. 

Meanwhile Chinese President Xi Jinping delivering the opening address noted that in order to develop the global economy, protectionism should be completely rejected to confirm free trade and transparency. 

The Chinese president had had discussions with the Sri Lankan Prime Minister along with other state leaders before the commencement of the summit. 

The PM’s office noted that during this meeting, ideas were exchanged regarding the Hambantota investment zone and Colombo financial hub.
