President chairs a special meeting to discuss about the drought

A special meeting to explore the possibilities of providing relief to the masses in the face of an impending drought was chaired by President Maithripala Sirisena at his official residence today.

The President has advised to appoint a special committee to take urgent decisions in order to minimize the inconvenience to the public.

The committee consists of the secretaries of ministries of Power, Mahaweli and Water Supply. The President also advised to rehabilitee the already dried irrigation tanks.
