Strong action to be taken against traders not displaying price tags

The Consumer Affairs Authority said that stern action will be taken on traders who fail to display price tags and violate the displaying of price law when selling products.

Chairman of CAA Hasitha Tilakaratne said that the number of complaints received daily on traders selling products without price displayed has increased.

30 shops that sold rice violating the maximum selling price were raided by CAA yesterday.

Within the last 10 days of February, number of raids made for selling products at higher prices, not displaying prices including violating the Consumer Authority Act were 671 and law has been enforced against 376 people, Consumer Affairs Authority further said.
