Backup power delayed,Castlereigh and Mawussakale to only supply drinking water

The Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers’ Union stated that there is a delay in receiving the backup generators of 60 mega watt, which the government decided to acquire in preparation for the looming power crisis likely to occur with the prevailing dry weather conditions.

Speaking to our news team, its Chairman, Athula Wanniarachchi stated that the generators were scheduled to be acquired during the first week of February.

He furthermore stated that Castlereigh and Mawussakale reservoirs will supply water only for drinking.
