Former OIC of the Crime Branch at Narahenpita Police, Sumith Perera has been released on strict bail conditions today, after being placed in remand for 9 months in connection with concealing evidence in the Thajudeen murder case.
Perera’s bail application was considered by Colombo High Court Judge Manilal Waidyatilleke.
Later, the suspect was released on a one hundred thousand cash bail and 3 surety bails of one million rupees each.
The Judge also banned the suspect from overseas travel and ordered him to surrender his passport to Courts.
In addition, the Judge warned the suspect that if he disrupts the case investigations, he will be re-remanded until the case hearing is concluded.
Meanwhile, former Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province Anura Senanayake is still in remand for concealing evidence with regard to the same case.
