Decayed+rice+unfit+for+human+consumption+taken+into+custody

The Consumer Affairs Authority was able to discover a stock of rice not suitable for human consumption during a raid carried out in Kekirawa area.

The Authority also announced that the stock contained rice up to 9530 kilos with expiry date changed as well as with insects.

Legal action will be taken against the sellers of this decayed rice.

The Consumer Affairs Authority warned public to be vigilant on sellers selling rice that is not fit for human consumption.

The Authority went onto point that some vendors hide stocks of rice and sell on high prices to consumers.

It was also revealed that some groups are in the habit of selling rice that is not fit for human consumption.
