Instructions to NARA to investigate on turtle deaths

Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development minister Mahinda Amaraweera has instructed NARA to immediately begin an investigation on discovery of dead bodies of turtles from the southern coastal sea area.

Tests already carried out revealed that there were no external wounds on the turtle bodies.

However, the ministry pointed out that so many dead bodies of turtles washing ashore from Tangalle to Hambantota coastal area at the same time is questionable.
