The National Movement to protect Kidneys and the All Ceylon farmers Federation staged a protest demanding the opening of the Kidney Treatment Unit of Medawachchiya hospital.

Residents in the area also participated in the protest.

Our correspondent stated that the protesters blocked the A-9 road and engaged in the demonstration.

The protestors complained that a similar agitation was launched in September last year on the same matter, but the completed treatment unit is not opened as yet.
