Two police officers granted bail

Former OIC of Narahenpita Police CI Upul Dhammika and former Crime OIC SI Chitrasiri Sugathapala have been granted bail over a case relating to attempting to obtain a bribe of Rs. 8 million from a medical practitioner in the area.
The case was taken up before the Colombo High Court Judge Sampath Abeykoon today (Jan. 10).
The accused police officers have pleaded guilty when the case was taken up, the Hiru court correspondent said.
They have demanded a bribe of Rs. 8 million from the doctor concerned and have also collected Rs. 2.5 million.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has filed this case.
