The millionaire businessman who was arrested for his alleged links to robbing cash and jewellery from a leading financial institution in Anuradhapura was remanded until Monday (Jan. 15).
 
The suspect was remanded after he was produced before Anuradhapura Additional Magistrate Harshana Ratnayake today (Jan. 11).
 
He was arrested this morning by the officials of the Criminal Investigation Department. He is from the Nochchiyagama area.
 
The CID sleuths found 11kg of gold in the possession of the suspect, believed to be stolen from the financial institute.
 
The robbers broke into the financial institute and got away with cash and jewellery worth Rs. 70 million around 6 months ago.
