The contract for the 'Metro Colombo Solid Waste Management Project' has been secured by a Chine firm.

Under this project, the solid waste from Colombo will be moved to Aruwakkalu in Puttalam to create a sanitary landfill.

The Ministry of Mega-Polis and Western Development has awarded the contract to the lowest bidder in China Harbour Company for $ 105 million.

The relevant contract agreement was signed last month and the project is expected to complete in 18 months.
