Gang rape accused given rigorous jail terms

Four persons who were accused of gang raping a girl from Dehiattakandiya after abducting her were found guilty by Amparai High Court.
The verdict was delivered on Wednesday (Jan. 30) by the court and the accused were handed rigorous imprisonment.
The first accused was jailed for 45 years and other three were given jail terms of 35 years each.
They were also ordered to pay Rs. 115,000 each to the victim.
It was revealed in the courts that the four suspects had assaulted the boyfriend of the girl while they were at Diyawiddagama in Dehiattakandiya before abducting the girl and raping her.
The incident had occurred in May 2013.
