The Government and the British High Commission in Colombo today (Feb. 02) refuted the false reports regarding alleged guidance issued by the so-called ‘Welcome Committee of British Royals’.

The Government Information Department said that there are reports and Facebook posts, citing a certain document, claiming that a committee by the aforementioned named has issued 18 guidelines to be followed in the presence of British Royals.

The reports come in the wake of the visit of Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, and the Countess of Wessex to Sri Lanka to participate Sri Lanka’s 70th Independence celebrations to be held on Sunday.

However, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the British High Commission in Colombo issued a joint media release refuting the reports.
