Commissioner General of Labour clarifies holiday issue on ‘May Day’

The Commissioner General of Labour, A. Wimalaweera says that 7th of May has been declared as a holiday for employees of private sector, semi-government institutes and other statutory bodies.
The May Day is usually celebrated on 1st of May.
However, government heeding to requests of Maha Sangha moved it to 7th of May.
The Commissioner General of Labour elaborated hence there's no reason to make the holiday an issue.
He said all the employees are eligible for that.
