Sarath Wijeratne, the owner of the rubber factory at Bellapitiya in Horana where 5 persons were killed in an accident, has been remanded until 11th of May.
The suspect surrendered to courts through a lawyer when the case was taken before Horana magistrate Jayaruwan Dissanayake today (Apr. 27).
In addition, the Senior Laboratory Controller and Manager of the factory were also further remanded until 11th of May.
Earlier, the Magistrate ordered to pay immediate compensation of Rs. 250,000 to the families of each victim.
Five persons were killed and 35 others hospitalized after they inhaled a toxic gas at the rubber factory in Horana on 19th of this month.
Investigations carried out by several authorities revealed that the factory had not maintained proper safety measures.
