New cabinet likely to take oaths tomorrow

It has been reported that the cabinet reshuffle which had been delayed over the last few weeks will take place tomorrow morning (May 01).
Government sources say that tomorrow the new cabinet is to take oaths before President Maithreepala Sirisena and the cabinet meeting will be held in the evening.
At a function held last Friday in Dambulla, the President had noted that the new cabinet will take oaths on International Labour Day.
The President had also stated that there will be a change in the Ministry of Buddha Sasana following the cabinet reshuffle.
He went on to say that after the cabinet reshuffle, there will be a scientific based allocation of subjects within the ministries.
The President had previously stated that following the Local Government elections on 10th of February, a cabinet reshuffle will take place, however, this was delayed by several weeks.
Meanwhile, 6 Ministers of the SLFP resigned from their portfolios two weeks ago.
Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the UPFA, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera attending a function held in Tangalle yesterday noted that he was alerted that the cabinet reshuffle might take place today.
Participating at a media briefing held in Hambantota yesterday, MP Wijepala Hettiarachchi said that the cabinet reshuffle would take place during next few days.
The JVP stated that the government was carrying out a cabinet reshuffle to distract and conceal the current economic crisis in the country.
