One person was killed and 7 others injured when a van veered off the road in Dambana on the Mahiyanganaya - Padiyathalawa main road.

 

They were returning after a pilgrimage and the injured were admitted to Mahiyanganaya Hospital, police said.

 

It was reported that the van had met with the mishap when it attempted to overtake a three-wheeler.

 

4 women are among the injured and the deceased was the driver of the van.

 

The 46-year-old victim was a resident of Hasalaka.
