The fishermen from North Western, Western and Southern coastal areas have boycotted venturing into the sea today (May 15) in protest of the recent price hike of kerosene.
The unions have agreed to discuss the issue with Minister of Fisheries Vijith Vijayamuni Zoysa this afternoon.
The President of Chilaw Rural Fishermen’s Union, Sujith Roshan said that his union agrees to have an identical colour for subsidized kerosene for fishermen.
Meanwhile, the price of fish in the marketplace has gone up due to the ongoing strike by the fishermen.
