Navy divers with the assistance of police have launched a search operation in Hiniduma after an individual was carried away by flash floods.

 

Police said that missing person had attempted to catch fish using a net when he was carried away by the force of the rising water.

 

The missing person was a resident of Habarakada.

 

Meanwhile, due to rising water level in the Kelani River, Hanwella - Nittambuwa road has inundated from Pugoda.

 

Our correspondent said the vehicular movement has affected as a result and the water level has risen up to 2 feet.

 

The Disaster Management Center said 17 houses in the Kandy area have damaged due to bad weather in the area.
