Disclosing a joint operation with the US intelligence, UK National Cyber Security Centre has revealed that Russian military intelligence services were planning a cyber-attack on the Olympics and Paralympics hosted by Japan.
Russian was excluded from all major sporting events following the four-year ban handed by the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) after they were found guilty of State-sponsored doping offences.
It was further revealed that cyber-reconnaissance work of Russia covering organisers, logistics services and sponsors of the Olympics was conducted before the event was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
