314 Covid-19 infected persons so far at Katunayake EPZ (video)

With 56 new cases identified yesterday (20), a total of 314 Covid-19 patients have been found from among workers at the Export Processing Zone at Katunayake.

PCR tests took place on the same day for all workers at the Board of Investment run EPZ’s factories where cases have been reported.

A BOI spokesman said the factories without any reported cases are continuing their functions under health guidelines.

The fish market at Peliyagoda has been closed after finding Covid-19 infected persons.

Of the 105 there, who had been subjected to PCR tests, 49 have tested positive.

The wards 46 and 56 at Colombo National Hospital have suspended admitting patients after finding infected persons.

Meanwhile, the Colombo Fort police station has resumed its functions after the premises was disinfected, says police spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana.

It had a brief suspension following the finding of a Covid-19 infected Inspector.

Personnel from other police stations are presently manning the reopened police station.
