The funeral of Madush Lakshitha alias ‘Makandure Madush’ who was killed during a shootout while in police custody was performed at the Godigamuwa Public Cemetery in Maharagama today (21).

A group of relatives including his wife and his mistress attended the funeral.

Meanwhile, Makandure Madush's mistress has sent a letter to the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) today through a lawyer requesting a formal inquiry into his death. Makandure Madush was 41 years old when he was killed during a shootout while in police custody yesterday (20) morning.

Colombo Additional Magistrate Kanchana Neranjana de Silva yesterday (20) ordered the Judicial Medical Officer to hand over Madush's body to his legal wife.

However, with her consent, the body was kept at the Madush’s mistress’s house in Pamunuwa, Maharagama. The body was taken to the cemetery for burial after religious observances were held this afternoon.

Special police protection were provided around the Godigamuwa cemetery where the last funeral was held.

The letter sent to the BASL by Makandure Madush's mistress through a lawyer states that a formal inquiry should be held into the death.

Meanwhile, officers of the Analyst's Department who visited the Laksitha housing premises in Applewatta, Maligawatta inspected the area where Madush was killed.

However, a resident of the apartment complex said that most of the security cameras had been inactive for some time.
