259 more tested positive for COVID- 19; 182 from the Peliyagoda Fish market, 02 from Quarantine centres and 75 close contacts.

Army Commander Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today requested that if anyone visited the Peliyagoda fish market during the last week, to immediately meet the Public Health Inspector in order to undergo a PCR test.

More than 800 people who had come to the Peliyagoda fish market which was closed yesterday (21) morning after identifying 49 people infected with coronavirus have been sent for quarantine while another 800 have been sent for self quarantine.

They were taken to quarantine centers in the midst of military protection last night.

It has been confirmed today that a person who was transporting fish from the Peliyagoda fish market in a mobile lorry to the public market complex on the Dehiwala-Railway Station road was infected with coronavirus.

Accordingly, five persons traveling in the lorry with the suspect were quarantined in the Ratmalana-Badowita area and the Dehiwala Medical Officer of Health's office took action to close the public shopping complex on the Dehiwala-Railway Station Road until further notice.

Three persons from the Kahawatta-Madampe fish market who had taken fish from the Peliyagoda fish market yesterday have also been directed to quarantine their houses.
