Reasons for curfew imposed in Moratuwa, Panadura, Homagama

A curfew was imposed in Moratuwa yesterday (27) after 42 PCR tests in the area returned positive, says Army commander Lt. Gen. Shevendra Silva.

Speaking to Hiru TV’s ‘Pattare Visthare’ this morning, he said they were detected during the tests conducted to find contacts of the fish market at Peliyagoda.

No infected persons were reported from Panadura, but a curfew was imposed in Panadura North and Panadura South police areas due to a possible spreading of the virus, he said.

Also, the population density and a likelihood of spreading to other areas were considered when imposing a curfew in Homagama, he said.

Meanwhile, 20 cases were reported yesterday in Borella, 44 in Kotahena and 36 in Mutwal, said the Army chief.

The possibility of lifting the curfew now in force in certain police areas of Veyangoda is being considered as those areas have not reported new cases, he added.
