COVID cases in Sri Lanka near 20,000

The number of coronavirus patients reported in Sri Lanka has near 20,000.

With the recovery of 479 patients, the total number of recoveries increased to 14,069, while 5,619 patients are still receiving treatment at the hospital.

Meanwhile, 5,317 patients have been identified from Colombo city. Among them, 1,556 patients have been associated with the Peliyagoda fish market coronavirus cluster. The nine COVID deaths that occurred yesterday (21) have also been reported from the Colombo Municipal Council area.

Chief Medical Officer of the Colombo Municipal Council Ruwan Wijemuni stated that a special program is being implemented in the city of Colombo to provide medicines and clinical facilities to the elderly and those suffering from chronic diseases.
