The core group Canada,Germany, North Macedonia, Malawi, Montenegro and UK intends to present a resolution at UNHRC to promote reconciliation, accountability and human rights in Sri Lanka while welcoming the progress made by the Government in infrastructure, demining, land return and resettling internally displaced persons.

However, the countries that co-sponsored the resolution on Sri Lanka stated that much more needs to be done to build lasting peace in the country and to resolve the harmful legacies of war.

Based on the report released by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the five countries that co - sponsored the resolution on Sri Lanka say that they will present a new resolution at this year's UN Human Rights Council to promote reconciliation, accountability and the promotion of human rights in Sri Lanka.
