Sri Lanka former cricketer Kumar Sangakkara has stated that the propaganda spread on the internet that his wife had obtained a government land reserved for low income earners through the Dambulla Divisional Secretariat is malicious and untrue.

He said in a note on his face book page that he would reveal the true details in the future.

It was reported yesterday that the Matale District Secretary has commenced a special investigation into an incident where a 2 acre land in the Dambulla - Sigiriya - Kayanwala - Milettewa area which was to be distributed to low income earners was allegedly given to the wife of a former cricket player.

The Governor of the Central Province has instructed to conduct an immediate investigation into the incident and submit a report.

Meanwhile, the Dambulla Divisional Secretary had suspended the Grama Niladhari of the Ihala Arawala Grama Niladhari Division last January for submitting forged documents and identity cards regarding the relevant land.

However, it was only after that Kumar Sangakkara, the former captain of the Sri Lankan cricket team, left this note on his facebook page.
