The United States and Japan have decided to work against new laws introduced by China on the protection of the coasts of the South and East China Seas.

According to foreign sources, the agreement was reached during a video conference between top officials of the two countries.

Japan and the United States have said China's new coastal protection laws could disrupt maritime freedom and economic balance.

In recent months, China has stepped up maritime activity in the South and East China Seas, and introduced new maritime security laws.
