COVID surge in India: death toll increased to 168,436

In the last 24 hours ending this morning, 45,384 new COVID cases were detected in India.

It is the highest daily number of infections reported from India since the outbreak of the global pandemic.

Accordingly, the total number of cases in India exceeds 13 million.

The death toll has increased to 168,436, with 794 corona deaths reported in the past 24 hours.

This is the fourth consecutive day that India has reported over 100,000 daily infections.

The state of Maharashtra, where India's corona distribution is most prevalent, is at risk of continuous lockdown, with all schools and academies in Delhi closed indefinitely.
