The Health Trade Unions allege that the covid tests carried out in the outpatient department at the time of admission of patients to government hospitals have been stopped completely.

However, they point out that the number of coronavirus infections diagnosed in hospitals has increased.

Coronavirus tests in hospitals were previously performed by nurses, but were stopped following a decision by the nursing trade unions.

However, doctors are currently conducting a limited number of tests in hospitals.

Earlier, patients were subjected to covid tests at the outpatient department at the time of hospitalization, and after hospitalization, another test was performed considering the risk factors.

Although we tried to contact the Director General of Health Services, Dr. Asela Gunawardena, the Deputy Director General of Health Services, Dr. Hemantha Herath and the State Minister Dr. Sudarshani Fernandopulle, they did not respond to the telephone calls.

Meanwhile, vaccination programs were launched today at 215 centers in 21 districts and vaccinations for gem merchants and those engaged in the industry were launched in Ratnapura today.
