The seventh edition of the World Cup Twenty20 Cricket Tournament is set to take place in the United Arab Emirates and Oman starting from today.

The World Cup will be held at four stadiums in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Al Emreth, Oman.

Oman and Papua New Guinea will enter the field today to play the first match of the qualifying round.

Meanwhile, it is reported that Kumara Dharmasena, the international umpire from Sri Lanka, will officiate in this match.

He had added a note to his official Facebook account some time ago informing about this match.

The World Cricket Council (ICC) has taken steps to allow spectators to a maximum of 70% of the stadium's capacity to watch the World Cup matches even as the tournament is being held under a biosecurity bubble for the players due to the Covid risk.

The total number of matches included in this year's T20 World Cup, which will feature 16 countries, is 45.
