Two Iranians who died after consuming sanitizer to be handed over to the families

The bodies of the two Iranians who died after consuming hand sanitizer at the Colombo Remand Prison will be returned to their families within a week, the Iranian embassy said. Therefore the embassy has requested the bodies to be preserved until such time.

A group of Iranian nationals who were imprisoned on charges of possession and trafficking narcotics had consumed hand washing liquid on the 14th and two of them died.

The body of one of the deceased is at the Colombo National Hospital morgue and the other at the Colombo Judicial Medical Officer's Office morgue.

The autopsies are to be conducted under the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court.
