The Ministry of Education states that schools will be reopened from tomorrow (21) in accordance with the new set of health guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health.

All schools in the country have been temporarily closed due to the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

At a time when schools were closed due to the COVID pandemic, all children in the country were being educated by school teachers using an online teaching method.

However, due to the continuous strike of teachers for more than 100 days, many school teachers in the island withdrew from the online teaching process and the online education process that had been active for school children in the country until then collapsed.

In this context, the Minister of Education Dinesh Gunawardena has issued a special statement on the occasion of the new school term which commences tomorrow (21) stating that the future of school children is not only the happiness of the parents but also the happiness of the entire nation.

Therefore, the Minister stated that he is confident that hundreds of thousands of children will take that pleasure and shape the school grounds again tomorrow.

The Minister of Education further stated that teachers and mothers will come to the school tomorrow to see the happy faces of their children who have not been seen for a long time.

Education is the future of the nation and it is the strength of the nation.

The Minister of Education points out that a credible solution has already been proposed with the intervention of the President, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance to increase the salaries of the teachers who provide it.

Therefore, no one can stop the school children and teachers scattered from Point Pedro to Dondra Head, from the West to the East, and we must all join hands to protect the right of children in this country to receive a free education, he said.
