With the spread of the COVID pandemic around the world, the import of vehicles to Sri Lanka had come to a complete halt.

The government has clearly stated that the reason for this is the shortage of dollars in the country.

However, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday gave hope to the people of this country who dream of buying a vehicle, with the importation of electric-powered vehicles.

The President was speaking at the opening of the new Kelani Bridge at the Gold Gate Kalyani yesterday (24).

"We have no coal, we have no oil, we have no gas. But we have water. There is wind. There is sunlight. If 71% of our fuel is brought to vehicles, why can't we bring electric vehicles to this country. We need to think about these and come up with solutions"
