A number of 265,766 booster doses of COVID-19 vaccine were given in the country yesterday (17) as well.

The booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine was administered to over 200,000 yesterday for the third consecutive day.

Accordingly, the number of booster doses administered to the country increased to 2,346,182.

Meanwhile, European countries are reportedly focusing on tightening pre-Christmas travel and social restrictions due to the spread of the Omicron COVID-19 variant.

Germany, Ireland, Switzerland, and Denmark are all set to tighten their borders, while France has already taken steps to close its borders to the British.

French Prime Minister John Castex has announced that the Omicron variant will spread across Europe next year.

Yesterday, 93,045 new infections were detected in Britain.

Another 111 deaths were reported yesterday, bringing the number of COVID deaths in Britain to more than 147,000.

One of the first steps Britain has taken to combat the Omicron variant is to speed up booster vaccination.

Meanwhile, a study by Imperial College London has revealed that the Omicron COVID variant is five times more likely to transmit than the Delta variant.

The study also found that immunity to the Omicron variant was as low as 19% due to previous infections.

Meanwhile, Dr. Anwar Hamdani, Director of Medical Technical Services at the Ministry of Health stated that in the face of the current situation, action should be taken to follow health instructions.
