Three male Bengali tiger cubs which were born three months ago at the Dehiwala Zoo, were on public display for the first time yesterday (2).

The public has also been given the opportunity to suggest names for the three new cubs.

The Department of Zoology stated that the names can be handed over to the Dehiwala Zoo before the 10th including the details of the proposer.

Alternatively, names can be suggested using the zoo's website or email.

Three cubs of a male animal called ‘Robin’ brought from China and a Bengali tigress called “Kella”  have given birth to these cubs three months ago.

This Bengal Tiger was first brought to the Dehiwala Zoo in 2009.

This was in accordance with an agreement reached with China at the time under the Animal Exchange Program.

Currently, there are two pairs of Bengal tigers at the Dehiwala Zoo and there are seven Bengal tigers in the Dehiwala Zoo with these three cubs.

Visitors to the Dehiwala National Zoo will be able to see the tiger cubs from today.
