A ship carrying another 2,500 metric tons of gas arrived in the island today, Litro announced.

The company said that the distribution of gas will be possible from Tuesday after the gas samples are tested tomorrow.

Accordingly, Litro requested the public not to stay in the gas queues until Tuesday.

However, today 37.5 kg gas cylinders required for essential and commercial services are being distributed.

A gas ship belonging to Laugfs is also scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka today.

Meanwhile, residents staged a protest by blocking roads at a gas distribution center in the Slave Island area, alleging that the distribution was not being done properly.

In the face of the gas crisis, traditional firewood manufacturers in the Badulla - Mahiyanganaya - Thaldena area say that there is a high demand for firewood.

In addition, people were in long queues to obtain diesel at a number of petrol stations islandwide.

Traffic on the Hatton-Colombo main road was blocked in the Malliappuwa area in Hatton this morning due to a protest demanding kerosene.

Our correspondent in the area stated that the protesters dispersed after the police arrived and promised to supply 6,600 liters of kerosene from a petrol station.
