Nominations for the upcoming Presidential Election will be accepted tomorrow (August 15) from 9.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. at the Election Secretariat in Rajagiriya. In response, a special traffic plan will be implemented by the police from 8.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. tomorrow.
The vicinity of the Election Commission Office in Rajagiriya will be designated as a special security zone during the nomination process. The public is advised to avoid the area, as all general activities, including operations at government offices and hospitals, will be suspended. Only authorized personnel and vehicles will be allowed access within the zone, particularly on Sarana Mawatha.
The Chairman of the Election Commission, R.M.A.L. Rathnayake, emphasized that parades or processions are prohibited after the nomination process, with ballot printing expected to commence immediately thereafter.
