India captain Rohit Sharma has taken full responsibility for India’s historic three-match series whitewash at home, acknowledging his poor batting performance while expressing hope for a stronger return in Australia in three weeks.

Following India’s 25-run loss in the third Test against New Zealand, Sharma reflected on the tough lesson, admitting his disappointment. “One day you are on high, one day you are not. I learned early that life has lows as well as highs,” Rohit remarked. “This loss is a low point in my career. I fully take responsibility as captain and leader, and I haven’t been at my best from the start of the series.”

Rohit, who managed only 133 runs across 10 innings, criticized his shot selection and admitted the team’s struggles with the bat. “We didn’t apply ourselves. We should have chased 147, but mistakes were made,” he noted, adding that both his and Virat Kohli’s form was a concern heading into the Australian series. Kohli also faced challenges, scoring only 192 runs in the same number of outings.

Reflecting on potential improvements, Rohit said, “I’m re-evaluating my game to see what best I can do.” While accepting recent struggles, he emphasized the importance of resilience and growth, aiming to help the team make a significant impact in Australia.
